Welcome to the Troop 239 Knot Challenge. To help our
Scouts to be more proficient at their knot tying skills, we
have created a Knot Challenge. The Scouts will have
the opportunity to be awarded various levels of Knot
Proficiency Rankings based upon their ability to demonstrate
a growing list of Scouting Knots.

recorded time for tying the six Boy Scout
Handbook knots (square knot, sheet bend,
sheepshank, clove hitch, round turn and two
half hitches, and bowline) on individual
ropes is 8.1 seconds, by Clinton R. Bailey,
Sr., of Pacific City, OR on April 13, 1977."
